    Well, it's Paula Deen!5
Any cookbook from Paula Deen is going to be great.
I purchased this for my 10 year old nephew who is a future chef.
The recipes are perfect for children, but best of all, everything is described in detail. Each tool, a whisk for example, will have a picture and instructions on how to use it. Cooking terms are explained so that beginners can easily understand.

I recommend this for children and anyone who is learning to cook for the first time.

    Perfect for beginners5
I'm surprised to see so many complaints about how basic some of the recipes are in this book. It's a children's cookbook, so the recipes SHOULD be simple. I think it's a good mix between homemade (like the pretzels) and easier stuff (like the ants on a log.) As a book geared towards children, the recipe selections are good, and I LOVE the "things you'll need" pages.

We had the porcupine balls for dinner tonight; my seven-year-old daughter made them herself, and she was SO PROUD. They were pretty tasty, too!

I had really never heard of Paula Dean so take this into consideration. I was bummed that the cookbook has you opening a can of biscuit dough to do this or that. It seems part of the fun of kids cooking is making things from scratch and actually getting their hands dirty. So i was fully disappointed with the the cookbook. It doesn't seem healthy or like something most parents would feed their children, or even have on hand for cooking....I am just bummed that I wasted my money on something i will never use..She has you putting food die into eggs!!!
